Walters, Marlin Ford Marlin Ford Walters, age 87, passed away January 6, 2021 after a four-year battle with various health issues-he is now pain free. He was born November 14, 1933 in Otsego, Michigan to the late Herman "Harm" and Johanna (Kok) Walters. During his younger days, he was an avid softball player. He enjoyed fishing at his place on Gun Lake, and eventually turned to raising sheep on his farm. Marlin started his work as a parts manager for many local dealerships. He also spent some time selling cars with his brother, Bud, at Bud and Doug Walters Auto Sales. He spent many more years as the service manager with Gilmore Automotive and was still active with many dealerships during his retirement. He was a great friend and champion for those he held close. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bud, Harold, and Gene; sister, Peg Koning; first wife, Dorothy (Yonker) Walters; second wife, Rita (Haywood) Walters; step-son, David Steinke, Jr.; and step-grandson, Dustin Robbins. He is survived by his daughter, Laura (Brian) Smith; grandchildren, Jonathan Lyle, Jacqueline Ann, and Brian Luke Smith; step-daughters, Karrie (Rupert) Carson of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Kelly (George) Williston of Delton, MI; step-grandchildren, Tyson Robbins, Jenna Carson, Kaitlin (Tyler) Scavo, and Shalane Carson; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as his beloved cat, Miss Kitty. Private services will be held for the family. He will be laid to rest with a private graveside service at Rutland Charter Township Cemetery in Hastings, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Heaven at Home Pet Hospice; see Langeland website for donation addresses.
