Marlene Siskaninetz

Marlene Siskaninetz, age 82, of Decatur, MI passed away Wed. Oct. 12, 2016 at home. Marlene was born Sept. 16, 1934 in Decatur the daughter of Henry and Susanna (Wanko) VanVoorst. She was a life member of the Ladies Aux. to VFW Celery City Post #6248 in Decatur. She married John Siskaninetz July 28, 1951 in Decatur and he preceded her in death Dec. 24, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister Donna Mortimore and a brother Jack VanVoorst. Survivors include 2 daughters Susan Hamel of Cassopolis and Margie (Fred) Leffler of Decatur, a son LT. Col. William (Kathy) Siskaninetz PHD of Oakwood, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, Mark (Stephany) Siskaninetz, Fred (Samantha), Joe (Stephanie) and Paul (Elizabeth) Leffler, Mary Siskaninetz and John Siskaninetz, 2 step grandchildren, Zach (Chelsea) Traux and Sydney Truax and 5 great grandchildren, Sophie, Daphne, Kallie, Paul and Allison Leffler. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Marlene's life will be held 11am Sat. Oct. 15, 2016 in the Newell Funeral Home Decatur with James Abshagen officiating. Burial of cremains in Lakeside Cemetery Decatur. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the services. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
