Marlene Simkins, age 73 of Vicksburg passed away November 27, 2015 at her home following a battle with cancer. Marlene was born November 9, 1942 in Kalamazoo to Harold & Marie (Rice) Early. She worked in data processing for National Water Lift retiring from Parker Hannifin and then going to work for Pfizer before retiring permanently. An avid golfer you could frequently find Marlene at States Golf Course. She enjoyed quilting and was part of the Vicksburg Quilting Guild, and she was her grandchildren’s biggest supporter attending all of their school and sporting events. Marlene enjoyed wintering at Reflections on Silver Lake in Avon Park, FL where she had many friends. Private family burial at Ft. Custer National Cemetery will take place, and a memorial open house is being planned for the spring. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Steve Early. She is survived by her husband Jerry Simkins, her sons Don (Kim) Hyames, Dave (Wendy) Hyames, her grandchildren Andrea, Melanie, Jack, Eric & Wes, her sisters Delores (Tom) Day and Carol Walker, her sister-in-law Rose Early as well as many other relatives.
