Obituary
Mark Stephan Szatkowski, age 77, of Kalamazoo passed away September 10, 2024. He was born March 8, 1947, in Kalamazoo to the late Sigmund and Lillian (Bochnik) Szatkowski.
Mark graduated from Portage High School in 1965. He worked for Root Spring Scraper Co. for 38 years.
Anyone who knew him would tell you that Mark was a man of faith, and it was his foundation. He was not afraid to share that faith. He was generous, and had a heart to give what he could when he saw a need, whether he knew the person or not. He loved to golf and played on several leagues over the years. He also loved to travel and was always eager to take a trip. He was a life long Lions fan, and looked forward to watching the Lions games every Sunday with Mark Jr. Mark was a devoted husband and family man. He loved family get togethers. He was married to Marilyn for 30 years.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, LouAnn Szatkowski who passed away in 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Szatkowski (Knapp) (nee Koning); son, Mark (Tara) Szatkowski, Jr.; stepchildren, Ursula (John) Marchand, Matthew (Autumn) Knapp, Adam (Amy Jones) Knapp, Angela (Luke) Menet, Rachel (Craig) Penn, and Robert (Patty) Kirby; 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor (Mike) Hackeman; brother, Emil (Sharon) Szatkowski; as well as nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, September 13, 2024, at 2:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009, where family will greet friends from 1:00pm until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
