Mark Korson

Mark Anthony Korson, 56 of Traverse City died, Tuesday, December 20, 2016.

He was born on July 26, 1960 the son of Richard Henry and Louise Marie (Ritter) Korson. Mark graduated Traverse City Senior High School in 1978.

He then entered the Army and was stationed in Hohenfels, Bavaria, Germany.

After the military, Mark attended the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center for Air Traffic Control. He then took a position as an Air Traffic Control at Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center. Mark transferred to the Minot, North Dakota Flight Service Station. He later transferred to Automated Flight Service Center in Lansing, where he worked until his retirement in 2003. Upon retirement he moved back to Traverse City.

He attended Christ the King Catholic Church, Acme. He was an avid sport enthusiast and was an All State Defensive Back in Football in high school. He also enjoyed waterskiing and boating on the Grand Traverse Bay and area lakes.

Mark is survived by his mother, Louise Korson of Traverse City; sister, Karen Ann Korson of Sarasota, Florida; brothers, Michael Allen (Teresa) Korson of Freeland and Jeffery Charles Korson of Traverse City and nephews, Samuel and Mitchell Korson of Freeland.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Henry Korson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 9am until 11:00am.
