Yonke, Marilyn J. Marilyn passed away Thursday at 5:30 PM, September 20, 2018 at Wyndham Apartments, Kalamazoo, MI. She was born July 8, 1933 in Saginaw, Michigan, one of five children of Henry and Elsa (Hansen) Wienberg. She was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw Michigan. Marilyn resided in the Portage area since 1956. She married Richard Yonke on October 24, 1953. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Susan Lynn Lovely, Three Rivers MI, Richard Paul (deceased) Yonke and Steven Wayne (Brenda) Yonke, Portage MI. Also surviving are dearly loved grandsons Brandon and Jacob Yonke; a sister Etta Weiss; and many nieces and nephews in Frankenmuth, MI. During her lifetime she was active in her church, enjoyed worldwide traveling with her husband, walked regularly and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Richard Paul Yonke who was taken early at age 36 from brain cancer. She was also preceded in death by sisters Margot Wienberg and Dorothy Rausch; and by a brother Carl H. Wienberg. Our deepest thanks to the Hospice staff Ashley, Terry and Natalie who took such loving care of Marilyn for weeks. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, September 30th from 1:00 3:00 PM and 6:00 8:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave. Funeral services will be held at Monday, October 1st at 11:00 AM at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2381 Romence Rd., Portage, MI 49024 with Pastor Mark Gieschen officiating. Burial will follow at Portage South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. James Ev. Lutheran Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
