Went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 13, 2017 at the age of 66. Marilyn was born November 30, 1950 in Kalamazoo to the late Joseph and Maria (Westrate) Hendriksen. She was united in marriage to John C. Meyer on June 18, 1971. Marilyn lived a life of service and always put others above herself. Her mission in life was for people to come to know and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. She was a longtime member of Calvary Community Church and was very involved with many ministries there. Marilyn obtained her nursing degree with three small children at home. She worked at Alamo Nursing Home for 25 years and ended her career working in Hospice Care. Marilyn had a great sense of humor and lived her life full of joy. She enjoyed camping, quilting, sewing, baking, crafting, and driving her grandchildren around on her golf cart. Most of all, Marilyn cherished her family. In her last 2 years she really enjoyed spending quality time during the winter months with her husband in Florida. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Meyer; children, Maria (Stephen) Holland and their children, Jadon and Jori; Amy Jo (Kevin) Oosterhouse and their children, Noah, Naomi, Max, Marlee and Levi; Johnny Meyer and his children, Collin, Leah, Audrey and Jackson; brothers, Joe (Betty) Hendriksen and Jim (Diane) Hendriksen; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, April 19 from 5-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. A private burial will be at Alamo Cemetery. Please join us for a celebration of life service on Thursday, April 20th, 2:00PM at Faith Chapel, 7736 W G Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marilyn's name may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. For obituary and condolences, please see Marilyn's personalized page at www.langelands.com.
