Marilyn passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Briarwood Assisted Living in Allegan. She was born February 21, 1932 in Park Ridge, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Lillian (Seeger) Diesness. Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of White Pigeon High School and moved to Plainwell in 1952. In her free time Marilyn loved to go shopping and enjoyed attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren. She served on the Plainwell School Board for several years. Marilyn was also an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and was involved in the choir, Ladies Guild and Altar Guild. On May 20, 1951 in Sturgis she married Jack Meert who passed away in 1995. Surviving are her children, Tom (Marty) Meert of Plainwell, Bob (Bev) Meert of Hopkins, Peg (Tim) Deaton of Kalamazoo, Steve (Shelly) Meert of Gobles and Dave (Amy) Meert of Plainwell; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda in 1987; grandson, Cody Meert and sisters, Barb Wagner and Roberta Frisby. A drive-up visitation will be held for high risk friends from 10:30-11:00 AM, Friday, July 17, 2020 at Peace Lutheran Church where an outdoor visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church outdoor pavilion with Pastor Nathaniel Timmermann officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell.
