Marilyn MacKellar

MacKellar, Marilyn Decatur, MI Marilyn passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on December 2, 2018. She was the daughter of Harold and Dora Ives. Marilyn graduated from Lawton High School and Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Music degree. She taught elementary school in Decatur and Schoolcraft for six years. Marilyn married Donald MacKellar on December 30, 1960. She was an accomplished musician and taught piano lessons out of her home. Marilyn also played the piano, organ and keyboard for the Church of God in Decatur for many years. Marilyn was preceded in death by husband Don, her parents, brother Ken Ives, his wife Lee, and sister-in-law Marian MacKellar. Marilyn is survived by her brother Marvin (Roberta) Ives, of Marcellus, son Nathan (Andrea) MacKellar of Decatur, daughter Sheila Augst of Kalamazoo, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild due in July. Family meant everything to Marilyn and she was the glue holding it all together. There will be no services at Marilyn's request.
