Marilyn J. Kappel, age 94, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Applewood of Brookfield. She was born in Racine, August 11, 1923, daughter of the late William and Alma (Nee: Sorenson) Bittorf.

On June 14, 1947, at the First United Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to Herbert E. Kappel, who preceded her in death, February 5, 2014. Marilyn was a lifelong active member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for twenty-three years, belonged to the Women’s Society, OPA, and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Y.M.C.A. Y’s Wives. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and gardening. Above all Marilyn was devoted to her family and friends.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Donald (Diane) Kappel of Omaha, NE, Nancy (David) Bridges of Milwaukee, Janet (Gary) Sherwin of Menomonee Falls; 12 grandchildren: Doug (Tiffany) Kappel, Diana Kappel, Matthew (Jolene) Bridges, Carilyn (Daniel) Ortega, Andrew (Krystal) Bridges, Michael Bridges, Lisa (Tate) Stursma, Eric Bridges, Annalise Bridges, Cassandra Bridges, Joseph Sherwin, and Emily Sherwin; 12 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbra; and brother, William.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 745 Main St, Thursday, February 8, 2018, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jakes Voker officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials to First United Methodist Church or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
