Marie Rose Anne Blake, 89, Traverse City, died, Friday, March 7, 2014.

She was born in Traverse City the daughter of William John and Mary Magdeline (Kardovach) Cole.

After graduation and in 1942, During World War II, Marie went to work for TruFit Trousers sewing uniforms for the government.

Marie was a bookkeeping supervisor with Montgomery Ward's from 1962 until it's closing. She was a first cousin to Mike Deering and was a bookkeeper with Maxbauer's Grocery. She was member of the Republican Party and the Arthritis Foundation. She enjoy Blueberry and Mushroom picking.

Marie was an avid bowler and won many league trophy's at Timber Lanes from the mid-1960's to mid-2000's. Her former teammates included Mikki Dionne, Sally Borrero, her aunt, Gladys Watkoske, Nancy Rokos Robbins, Ginny Beitner, Bettie Blodgett, Linda Wick and the later Clarine Myers.

Marie is survived by her sons, John A. (Jeanne) Blake of Sigel, Illinois and James L. Blake of Traverse City; sister, Margaret Hardman of Salem; brother, William D. Cole; daughter-in-law, Janet Blake of Maple City, MI and lastly her favorite Kitty “scooter.”

She is preceded in death by her parents and son, George Junior Blake; they were married at St. Francis Church on November 28, 1942.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at St. Francis Catholic Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior. Memorial Contributions may be made to Munson Hospice House, 1150 Medical Campus Dr. Traverse City, Michigan 49684. The family chose Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City to handle the services.
