Surrounded by her loving family, Marie A. Konicek, age 80, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her residence. Marie was born in Chicago, IL, September 10, 1936, daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Nee: Serlectic) Resan.

Marie was a graduate of Douglas Memorial High School “Class of 1954”. On February 10, 1962 she was united in marriage to Edward J. Konicek. In her younger years she was employed at New England Telephone and Telegraph Company for ten years. She was a longtime member of St. Rita Catholic Church. A lover of animals, Marie was an avid reader of novels and mysteries, and enjoyed cooking and crossword puzzles. Marie and Ed traveled to many places including Hawaii, the Caribbean, Ireland, England, Italy, and embarked on several cruises. More than anything she treasured time spent with her family, especially taking care of her children and grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Edward; her children, Charles Konicek, Lisa (Calvin) Vassh, Michael Konicek, all of Racine, Stephen Konicek of FL, Anthony (Melissa) Konicek of Stevens Point; her eight grandchildren, Michael Jr., Arielle, Charles, Cole, Aaron, Tyler, Dylan, and Preston; sister, Charlene (Donald) Vollmer of WA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ann Resan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, with Rev. Rich O’Leary officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M.
