Mariano "Mario" DeRango

Surrounded by his loving family, Mariano “Mario” DeRango, age 83, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at his residence. Mariano was born in Marano Principato, Italy, May 1, 1932, son of the late Benedetto and Carmella (nee: Ponzio) DeRango.

Mario was a graduate of St. Catherine's High School “Class of 1952”. On December 15, 1963 he was united in marriage to Rosetta Chianello in Rende Italy. Mario owned and operated several businesses, mostly recognized by his restaurant “DeRango The Prime Rib”. Mario was a longtime member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Mario enjoyed weekly anticipated visits filled with great conversations and blessings for the past 33 years by his dear friend Deacon Russell Missureli.

Mario leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted loving wife of 51 years, Rosetta; his daughters Anna Maria DeRango of Racine, Rosanna (John) Ruffolo of Thornton CO; his grandchildren, Leopoldo, Giovanna, Giuseppe, Natalie and Gianna Maria, other relatives and many friends. Mario's compassionate caretaker, Kathleen Hancock Kerscher has now become a part of our 'Italian Famiglia'. In addition to his parents, Mario was preceded in death by his brothers, Giovanni and Domenico.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 with Rev Rich Young officiating assisted by Deacon Russell Missureli. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with family at the church beginning at 9:30am until the time of service at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32.
