Marian Peterson

Passed away Tuesday morning, September 24, 2019. Marian was born December 16, 1925 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Joe and Norine (Wagonmaker) DeVries. She was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo and was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 30 years with the Upjohn Company, retiring as a coordinator in sterile products. Marian was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and volunteered for many years at Bronson Hospital as a Candy Striper. She had a beautiful collection of crystal and milk glass and was always looking for new pieces. She loved Christmas lights and loved driving around looking for the best ones in town. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her daughter, grand-daughter, and great-grandson. Marian is survived by her daughter, Sue (Dave) Grinder; grand-daughter, Sarah (Michael) Bierema; great-grandson, Keegan; sisters, Pat Howard, Gert Persing; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother, Dorie DeVries and Roy DeVries; brothers-in-law, Bob Howard, Ben Persing; and sister-in-law, Kenlyn DeVries. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, September 30 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street. A time of fellowship will follow the service in the Langeland Family Center. Friends may meet the family Monday from 10:00-11:00am prior to the service. Private interment will be in Mt.
