Marian Batey

Passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018. Marian was born April 5, 1928 the daughter of the late Vern and Marie (DeWispeleare) Shafer. She enjoyed knitting and being a 4H leader. She was a member of the Country Christian Church and was a choir director in church in her younger years. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. In September of 1951 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Harold Batey who preceded her in death on June 29, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Deborah Batey; and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Dave (Vickie) Batey, Deb (John) Hartmann, Pam Peacock, Bob Batey; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:30am Friday, April 13 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Galesburg. Friends may meet the family from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday, April 12 at the Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Country Christian Church.
