Maria E. Fernandez Vargas

Surrounded by her loving family, Maria E. Fernandez Vargas, age 88, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at her residence. Maria was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, April 22, 1927, daughter of the late Anselmo and Trinidad (Nee: Luna) Fernandez. In May of 1943 she was united in marriage to Sabino Vargas. She loved spending time with family playing bingo, dancing, arts, and crafts.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Sabino; her children, Chila, Sabino, Hortensia, Carmela, Jose Enrique, Miguel, Roberto, Armando, Ruben; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers, sisters, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her children, Enrique, Angelica, Antonio and Juan A.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 29, 2015, 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Avenue, with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and Monday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 10:30 A.M.
