Margaret Ann Stoker (Sherman), age 94, of Lawton, MI passed away peacefully Saturday, August 19, 2017. Margaret was born June 18, 1923 in Lawton, Michigan, the daughter of the late Elmer "Lynn" and Eva Isabelle (Lawton) McKee. Margaret graduated from Lawton High School and attended WMU, where she met her husband to be, Warren "Pete" Sherman, and later married on August 1, 1943 while Pete was in the Navy. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Charlie Stoker at Raymond Weaver Insurance in Lawton. He sold the business to Mal Kaiser, where she continued working until she left for Charles Ranson Insurance in Paw Paw. She later worked as a pie baker for the D.J. Sherman Pie Company in Lawton. Margaret was a life member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and served as church treasurer. She was a Girl Scout Leader in Lawton and served on the Girl Scout Council. Margaret enjoyed making pies, crafting stained glass windows and lamps, playing bridge, reading and antiquing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, on April 1, 1978. After several years, she was united in marriage to Bud Stoker, who preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Helen Johnson, and a daughter-in-law, Kay Sherman. Surviving are four children, Thomas (Jill) Sherman of Three Rivers, MI, Marilynn (Ronald) Labadie of Saline, MI, Martha (Jerry) Labadie of Mattawan, MI and Donald Sherman of Lawton, MI; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren along with three nieces. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at 11:00am at St Paul's United Methodist Church, 63855 N, M-40, Lawton. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or the National Kidney Foundation.
