BEURKENS, Margaret (Marney, aka “Grandma Peanut”)

Age 85, of Grand Rapids passed away on May 9, 2016 after a long battle following a stroke. She is survived by her children, Beth (Gary) Evanzo, Becky Beerthuis, Sue (Bob) Joslin, Karen (Jon) Beurkens-Farkas, Shawn (Rich) O'Connor, and Tony (Cheri) Beurkens; grandchildren, Tim, Angie (Scott), Allen, Tiera, Bobby, Sara (Greg), Rob (Allison), Shanon (Frank), Tony, Jeramie, Crystal (Nate), Jodi, and Lacey (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Alissa, Chelsie, Breanne, Lily, Sawyer, Hanna, Maggie, Grace, Ethan, Evan, Emma, Anthony, Caden, Hunter, Mason, Kennedi, Kyle, Austin, Kaley, Dotty, and Jack; and many extended family and friends who called her “Grandma Peanut”. Also surviving are her brother, Bob (Judy) McClelland, and nieces, Kristin and Karin. Marney had always been a fun loving, storytelling, caring woman who never wanted to pass up an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. She always said, “Little funeral, big party”. To honor her wishes there will be a private family service followed by a celebration of life “party”. Those who wish to celebrate her life with family and friends are invited to join this open house, “party” on May 20th from 4-8 PM at the Grand Rapids Firefighters Hall, 1930 Fuller NE (corner of Knapp & Fuller). In lieu of flowers or donations, your attendance alone is enough.
