Marcia Van Gemert

Marcia A. Van Gemert, age 62 of Vicksburg, MI passed away at Borgess Medical Center on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Marcia was born in Kalamazoo on May 11, 1954; the daughter of the late James H. and Harriet H. (Luce) Van Gemert. She was employed for many years at Western Michigan University in the Security Department and also served as a Reserve Officer for the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department. She was an avid history buff and especially enjoyed Maritime history. Marcia is survived by her sisters, Ellen (Manuel Ray) Van Gemert and Lisa (Dan) Nicklas; her nephew, Connor Nicklas and her beloved cats, Gus, Mack and Tinker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by aunts and uncles, Katherine Craft, Mary Lewis, Dena Sincler, Ruth Smith, Henry Van Gemert and Francis Luce and her grandparents, John and Ada Van Gemert and Harold and Doris Luce. A visitation will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Private burial will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorial contributions may be given to SPCA of Southwest Michigan or the Kalamazoo Humane Society, c/o of the funeral home.
