Mrs. Marcella Marie Doran, age 94, o fWayland, MI passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Marcella was born September 5, 1922 in Lansing, MI to Ira and Frances Palmiter. She grew up in Grand Rapids where she married James Doran. They moved to Portage, MI, where they raised their family, before settling at Gun Lake for the next 43 years. She will be remembered by her family as being a sweet, loving, Godly, person with a very strong faith. Her faith and family were most important to her, as she stayed very active in her church. She loved caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marcella enjoyed sewing and always had a puzzle going even right to the last moments she spent with her children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, James Doran; sons, John Francis and Thomas James; siblings, Sister Helen Palmiter, Rev. Raymond Palmiter, and Madeline Palmiter; son-in-law, William Petkoff; and daughter-in-law, Beth Doran. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Margaret Lancaster; cousin, Mary O'Hearn; her children, Sharon Petkoff, Susan (Michael) Brand, Daniel and Julia Doran, Sandra and Gus Hendrixson, Michael Doran, and Timothy and Judi Doran; grandchildren, Kelly, Andrew, Timothy, Michelle, Amy, Jennifer, Matthew, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Nichole, Sarah, Kendra, Shawna, Amber, Sasha, Chadwick, Renelle, Jessica, Otto, Cheryl, William, and David; and 37 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, February 24 from 6-8 PM, with the Rosary service at 7:45 PM at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St., Wayland. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 159 131st Ave. Wayland, MI with an hour visitation prior at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.
