Surrounded by her loving family, Marcella A. Mueller, age 94, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at her residence. Marcella was born in Somers, WI, April 30, 1922, daughter of the late George and Louise (Nee: Robers) Thomas.

Marcella was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1940”. On June 1, 1946 at St. George Catholic Church in Kenosha she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Edwin G. “Red” Mueller. She was an active longtime member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Very competitive at playing Scrabble and Sheepshead, Marcella also enjoyed watercolor painting. She was an avid sports fan and was thrilled when the Cubs won the World Series. Marcella will also be fondly remembered for her hand painted Christmas cookies, apple pie and creatively decorated cards. Most of all, Marcella lived for her family. She was always bursting with news about her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Hardly a birthday or other special occasion went by without a card, gift, or phone call from Marcella and Red. Every Christmas the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all received stockings, and Easter meant hidden baskets for all the kids. Marcella and Red’s refrigerator was plastered with photos of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of Marcella’s favorite times was the regular breakfasts she and Red hosted in their cozy kitchen for her siblings and in-laws and assorted other relatives and friends – the farm table was loaded with coffee, juice and baked goodies and the room rang with laughter and family gossip.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of seventy years, Red; her eleven children, Tom Mueller, Mike (Vernay) Mueller, Mary (Mark) Reinhart, Ellen (Emil) Pfenninger, Bill (Audrey) Mueller, Mark (Barbara) Mueller, Jane Powell, Steve Mueller, Tim (Sally) Mueller, Donna (Ben) Wilson, Beth (John) Schumacher; 33 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Joe (Bette) Thomas, Jean Murphy, Ralph Thomas, Leo (Judy) Thomas, Rita (Dick) Christensen, Kathy (Joe) DeCono; sister-in-law, Josie Karls; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Bonny Mueller; infant brother George Jr.; sisters and brothers, Mildred Penza, Binnie Thomas, Charlie Thomas, Marie Hanrath, Alice Yacukowicz, Jerry Thomas, and Ann McDonough and numerous in-laws and other relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 21, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100 95th Street, Sturtevant, with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at St. Sebastian Catholic Church from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Private interment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Memorials to St. Sebastian Catholic Church or to Aurora at Home Hospice have been suggested.

A special thank you to the staff from Aurora at Home Hospice, especially Jill and Brianna for their loving and compassionate care.
