Passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Lakeland Medical Center, Saint Joseph. Macy was born June 17, 1947 in Plainwell, the son of Lloyd and Sylvia (Warner) Burt, both of whom precede him in passing. Also preceding him in passing was a half brother and a half sister. Macy served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked in salvage repair at General Motors for 31 years. In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman, always looking for that twelve point buck or casting a line for that next big fish. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. Macy married Nancy Brausch on June 22, 2000. She survives, along with a daughter, Charlena Burt and a son, Benjamin Burt, both of Michigan; three grandchildren; two step-daughters: Amy (Robert) Afdahl of Colorado and Christine (Michael) Petkovich of Arizona; six step grandchildren and many other family members. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will welcome friends from 6 to 8 P.M.; Tuesday, September 6 at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with the service honoring his memory taking place at 7 P.M. with Pastor Lonnie Truelove officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Macy's name be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
