Mabel (Harrison) Lindsey, age 100, of Kalamazoo, MI, formerly of Vicksburg, MI died Saturday morning, August 13, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, with her family at her side following a brief illness. Mabel, the daughter of Wayne and Ruby (Curtis) Harrison was born in Climax Township of Kalamazoo County on February 23, 1916. She graduated from Climax High School in 1935. She worked at various jobs over her lifetime retiring from the Vicksburg Locker Plant in 1981. Mabel was united in marriage to Leonard Earl Lindsey in Three Rivers, MI on October 3, 1945 and he sadly preceded her in death on December 30, 1958. Surviving are two daughters, Janet L. (Timothy) Holysz of Kalamazoo and Mary M. Huntington of Marcellus; four grandchildren and their spouses; Amy and Greg Cupp, Mendon, Eric and Cindy Huntington, Portage, David and Katie Holysz, Portage, Mary Ann and Glen Robertson, Richland; nine great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Anna, Carson, Dylan & Megan Cupp, Caden and Marshall Huntington, Charlotte Mabel and Lyla Robertson; brother, William (Becky) Harrison of Vicksburg; sister, Irene (Carl) Beebe of Vicksburg; two sisters-in-law, Betty Harrison of Battle Creek and Joyce Harrison of Climax, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband and parents; infant son, John; sisters, Mildred Harrison and Helen (Erwin) Oliver; brothers, Maynard (Barbara) Harrison, Willard Harrison and Jack Harrison; step-mother, Florence Harrison; and son-in-law, Larry Huntington. The Memorial Service to celebrate Mabel's life was held on Thursday, August 18th at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. Internment was next to her beloved husband, Leonard, in Reese Cemetery, Springfield, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mabel's honor may be directed to the Bronson Health Care Foundation, c/o Bronson's Children's Hospital, 301 John Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 North Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
