Lyle Ervin Zak, 85 of Buckley, died June 1, 2018.

Lyle was born on August 25, 1932 in Traverse City to Adolph and Mary (Carroll). He lived in Traverse City all his life until he moved to Buckley in 1993.

He worked for Consumer Power, supervising the tree crew for 36 years.

Lyle served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; where he served for 3 years. He was a member and former commander of the American Legion Post 531 in Copemish.

He loved his woods, cutting wood, gardening and helping others.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Sharon; they were married in June 1998; daughter, Linda Zak of Thompsonville; granddaughters, Jen (Eric) Salenski and Amy (Ben) Riddle; great-grandchildren, Andria, Izzy, Cash and Alyssa; siblings, Evelyn McMillan of Grawn, Robert Zak of Thompsonville and Jerry Zak of Kingsley; special friends, Angie and Ron Spellman, many nieces, nephews and cousins and his faithful dog, Remmington.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, stepchildren, wife, Marian Zak and Uncles.

Memorial Services will be held 11am, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Grant United Methodist Church, Pastor Sean Barton officiating. The family will greet friends starting at 10 am. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
