Robinson Jr., Lonnie 1/2/1936 - 7/8/2017 Hersey, MI Lonnie O. Robinson, Jr., age 81, Hersey, MI, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday July 8, 2017. He died from complications of Parkinson's disease. Lonnie lived in the Kalamazoo area for more than 50 years. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1953 and was in the US Army for 2 years. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1959 and worked as Manufacturing Manager at Ronnigen-Petter until 1966. He owned and operated Portage Manufacturing Company until 1973. He retired as Vice President of Unifab Corporation in 1986. Lonnie loved working and creating things. He even built his own log cabin home on a lake in Bitely, MI while he was retired. He loved being outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. His motto was: "The difficult, I can do- The impossible will take me a little longer" He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Lamb) of 22 years; Patricia Robinson (ex-wife, mother of his children, married 25 years); one daughter, Darci Robinson; two sons Brad and Curt Robinson, all of Portage, plus one brother David (Cheryl) Robinson of Kalamazoo. Also surviving are four step-children, 18 step-grandchildren and 11 great step-grandchildren. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Interment was at Bitely Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Lonnie loved life and lived it to the fullest. He fought until the end. He will be greatly missed.
