Martz, Lois L. Portage, MI Lois Louise Martz, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 23, 2022. She was born April 12, 1933, in Barry County, MI, a daughter of Burr and Hilna (Benson) Fassett. Lois was a longtime area resident. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1951. Lois and Clarence were long-time active members of Portage Free Methodist Church (now called Renovation Church). Lois loved growing up on the farm. The hard work and fun that she experienced produced a work ethic and approach to life that carried on throughout her life and was passed on to her children. Lois was a homemaker extraordinaire. She was a gifted cook, gardener, seamstress, needleworker, and showed hospitality to many. Throughout her life she was a rock and a steady force in the lives of her family because of her faith in Jesus Christ. She served her family well. Lois was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Leticia, and a brother, Nyle. Lois is survived by her children, Diane (Craig) Glass, Daniel (Julie) Martz, and Dawn (Mark) Sondergard; grandchildren, Anna (Jake) Sondergard, Rebekah (Ryan) VanZegeren, Sarah (Mike) Grasman, Laura (Matt) VanDerWende, Emily (David) Buick, Megan (Alex) Boese, and Monica (Charles) Stone; great-grandchildren, Luke, Avery, Isaac, Josh, Abby, Ruby, Noah, Morgan, Nora, Adeline, RedIron, Mabel, Burr, Weber, Opal, and Vanatta, brothers Clair and Lee and sister, Linda.
