Life Story / Obituary
Lloyd A. Ver Hage, age 82 of Holland, passed away unexpectedly Monday February 1, 2016 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Lloyd was born in Hudsonville, MI, attended Calvin College, and received his Business Degree from the University of Michigan. He owned and operated Ver Hage Motors of Holland for 53 years. Lloyd knew and loved the Lord and claimed Christ as his savior. He was a former Elder and a member of Pillar Church for over 50 years and also served on the Holland Christian School Board. He was an avid collector of classic cars and loved to share his collection with many tour groups and car clubs throughout the area. Lloyd served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved son, Paul A. Ver Hage in 1995. He is survived by his wife Bernice, of 61 years; children, Blaine and Lisa Ver Hage, Norm and Lynn Ver Hage, and Laurel and Ken Beukelman all of Holland; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Langerak of Marne; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Ver Hage, Mitchell and Jennifer Ver Hage, Katelyn and Jason Nyhof, Merideth Beukelman, Lydia Beukelman, Betsy Ver Hage, Valerie Ver Hage, and Andrea Ver Hage; brother, Eugene and Terry Ver Hage; in-laws, Shirley Bareman and Vonnie and Hoyt Schut; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Funeral and military services will be 11 am Monday (February 8) at Pillar Church, 57 East 10th Street, with the Rev. Jonathan Brown and Rev. Michael De Vries officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 pm Sunday (February 7) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel, 29 East 9th Street.
