Linda Lee (Marks) Shepard passed away peacefully on Wednesday after a long battle with Alzheimer's. The youngest of 7 children, Linda was raised on a farm in Lawrence, Michigan. She attended nursing school and eventually relocated to San Diego where she lived for 25 years. She had a son, Joseph and daughter, Lisa, both of whom she raised largely as a single mother. In 1984 she met her future husband Dick Shepard while country line dancing. In 1996, Linda and Dick retired and moved to Weed, CA where they built their dream home in the mountains. After being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's, Linda and Dick moved to Kentucky to be near her daughter. Her son followed shortly thereafter so that Linda could be surrounded by her children in her final years. A kind woman with an infectious laugh, Linda enjoyed the simplicities in life. Her passions were gardening, word games and music. She is predeceased by her parents, 2 sisters and 4 brothers. She is survived by her husband Dick, son Joseph Causarano, daughter Lisa Causarano (Keith Morley), stepson Mark Shepard (Cheryl), step-granddaughter Annica, sisters-in-law Bev Marks and Jane Marks and family friends Marian and Eddie Boncato. The family will host a private ceremony in Lawrence, Michigan at a future date. Condolences may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association. Linda's family extends great thanks to everyone who was instrumental in providing care during her illness, especially the staffs from Helping Hands, The Forum and Hosparus in Louisville.
