Lillian F. Sommer (Lily), age 92, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at The Woods of Caledonia. Lillian was born in Racine, February 6, 1924, daughter of the late Vincent and Frances (Nee: Kuzela) Barina.

On October 20, 1951 she was united in marriage to Alvin G. Sommer who preceded her in death, August 1, 2008. In her younger years she was employed by Wisconsin Electric and Kurten Medical Group. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Vincent De Paul. Lillian enjoyed singing, gardening, reading, but most of all, traveling and camping in northern Wisconsin, a love she imparted to her whole family.

Her beautiful smile will be dearly missed by her children, Janet (Mike) Sanchez, Kathryn (Peter) Malanche, Victoria Sommer Ryan, John Sommer, Lenore (Edward) Jacobs; 10 grandchildren, Stacey (Kevin) Showers, Marissa Watson, Michael (fiancee, Lauren) Sanchez, Stephan Sanchez, Rachel, Erin and Hailey Sommer, Madeleine and Elisabeth Jacobs and Nick Malanche; 6 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Isiah, Dominic Marley, Mason and Brock; brother, Robert (Charlotte) Barina; sister, Alice Barina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Ryan; brother, Dr. Henry (Laverne) Barina; and sister, Sr. Joan Barina, MMS.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 11, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Avenue, with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to Medical Mission Sisters have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at the Woods of Caledonia whom Lily called her angels.
