Lewis F. Barton, age 67, of Otsego, MI passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 in the NCU at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born December 19, 1949 in Otsego, the son of Malcom and Verna (Hartlage) Barton. Lewis proudly served his country in the US Air Force during Vietnam. For 7 years he had worked as a Sheriff's Deputy on the road for the Allegan County Sheriff's Department following his time with the department he had worked as a corrections officer for 13 years. He then went on to drive truck for NTB Trucking and had retired from UBCR after 15 years of driving. In his spare time Lewis enjoyed drinking beer, playing cornhole at the Otsego VFW, riding his Indian Chief Motorcycle and recently he had begun raising chickens for eggs. He was a member of the Otsego VFW Post #3030 Men's Auxiliary and Dad's Club. On December 14, 1974 at the First Congregational Church of Otsego, he married Ruth Porter who survives. Also surviving are his children, Jason (Katie) Barton and Travis Barton both of Otsego; grandson, Zeth Barton; sister, Patricia Farmer of Kentucky; several aunts; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Tracy Barton and brother, Mike Barton. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering for Lewis's friends and family will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 starting at 3:00 P.M., at the Otsego VFW Post #3030.
