Lester Chase

Lester E. Chase, age 96, of Glendale, MI passed away Tuesday August 16, 2016. Lester was born March 10, 1920 in Waverly Township, the son of Edwin and Hattie Fern Chase and had lived in the Glendale area his entire life. Lester had a passion for farming. He had been a dairy farmer for many years and later transitioned to pigs. He was a very kind and giving man and was willing to help anyone in need. It could be said that he had given away far more than he ever kept. Lester had been a lifetime member of the Glendale Baptist Church, receiving the lifetime of Christian Service award in 2007. He was a strong supporter of his family and cherished every moment they spent together. Surviving is his loving wife of 15 years Vareta; 3 children, Vivian June (Albert) Malin of Granger Indiana, Carol (Roger) Terpstra of Mattawan and Cindy (Don) Jones of Bushnell Florida; stepdaughters, Rennee (Kathy) Couey, Wendi (Larry) Moret, Rhonda (Doug) Deater; 6 grandchildren, Gregory, Tracy, Anne, Thomas, Samantha and Megan; 5 step grandchildren, Allen, Matthew, Killie, Carrie and Dawn; several great and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his former wife Shirley J. Chase, a grandson Jeffrey Terpstra, a sister Vivian Farwell, brothers, Delbert, Donald, Robert and Wayne. The family will meet friends on Friday from 1 PM until time of funeral services at 2 PM at the Glendale Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Glendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to either the Glendale Baptist Church or Lighthouse Baptist Church. Arrangements by, Bloomingdale Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home.
