Ekema, Leonard "Bud" Of Kalamazoo, MI Leonard E." Bud" Ekema, age 94, went home to be with his Lord on January 28, 2021. Bud was born May 9, 1926 in Kalamazoo, the son of Frank and Jennie (Klok) Ekema. He was a lifelong resident and was employed for over 42 years as a semi-truck driver for Farm Bureau/Country Mark prior to his retirement. Bud was a longtime member of the Twin Lakes Reformed Church, and he especially enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. On September 21, 1956, he was united in marriage to Katherine J. (Hiemstra) Ekema, who preceded him in death on October 12, 2019. He was also preceded by a son Mark Camp; his parents and siblings Irene Fraaza and Geraldine Westrate. Surviving are his children Thomas (Kathy) Camp, Marcia (Thomas) Kiel, Len (Ruth) Ekema; a daughter-in-law Karen Camp; grandchildren Carrie, T.J., Joel, Eric, Jessica, Matt, Tim, Jennie; great-grandchildren Brynn, Cade, Castyn, Cole, Nolan, Brody, Hadley, Maci, Quinn, Mark, Eve, Adalyn, Olive, Paisley, Liam, Meredith, Simon, Shirley, Tristan and Quentin; step-grandchildren Matthew, Rebekah; siblings Norma LaRoy, Carol (Art) Kiel and Dorothy Bergman; nieces and nephews. Private family visitation will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes. A private family graveside service will be held in Alamo Center Cemetery with Chaplain Kim Sandelin officiating.
