Life Story / Obituary

Print

Lenore Grace Kalbfleisch, loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother, passed onto eternal life on November 30 at the Cherry Hill Havens Memory Care Unit where she was a resident for two years. She was surrounded by her family during the time of death.

Lenore as born in St. Ignace, Michigan on October 27, 1938, the daughter of Charles and Agnes Allen. She graduated from LaSalle High School in 1957 and married "the love of her life" Selden Kalbfleisch on June 27, 1959 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in St. Ignace. She was a very active member of the class of 57 and had many good friends. She was homecoming queen at LaSalle High School and Miss St. Ignace during the Mackinac Bridge opening ceremonies.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years and her daughter Julie (Andrew) Farrell of Crown Point, Indiana and their children Ryan and Courtney, her son Robert (Sara), his son Tristen of Traverse City, and her youngest son Michael (Amy) and his daughters Izzy and Kinsey of Byron Center, Michigan. Also surviving are her sister Carol of Cadillac, brother Dale of Chicago, brother Jim (Mary) of Atlanta, sister Linda (Pat) of Owosso, and sister in-law Deanna Allen of Marquette.

Lenore and Selden lived in California, Marquette, Ann Arbor, and Lansing before moving to Traverse City in 1969. They are members of St. Francis Catholic Church where they volunteered in the hospital ministry plus other church activities. They enjoyed traveling, especially their trip to Alaska. Lenore loved time spent shopping with her lady friends. Most important to Lenore was her time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and her close friends. Lenore's time at Cherry Hill Haven was a time of receiving good care and a lot of love. Her care was supported with additional care and love by the Hospice of West Michigan.

Lenore will always be remembered for her kindness to others, her beautiful and warm smile, and her gentle and loving spirit.

A mass and Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Church in Traverse City on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10-11 am.

Donations may be directed to Cherry Hill Haven in Traverse City and to Hospice of Michigan.
