Lena Johnson

Lena passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the age of 103. She was born on November 26, 1914 in Atlanta, Georgia a daughter of the late Bela P. and Maude A. (Marsh) Anderson. She worked in human resources for Lockshore Dairy, Nazareth College and Kalamazoo Manufacturing. Lena was a member of First United Methodist Church of Portage (now Pathfinder Church) where she was an avid supporter of many missions. On June 1, 1935 Lena married Lance L. Johnson who preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert L. Johnson and Lance L. Johnson, Jr; a grandson, Dennis Johnson; three siblings; and a close friend and companion, Alex Ervin. She is survived by five children, Carolyn A. (Kenneth) Edson of Kalamazoo, B. Philip (Sun Cha) Johnson of Vicksburg, Timothy L. (Keri) Johnson of Portage, Susan K. Ayres of Portage, and Marcia A. (David) Tomko of Holland; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 10th at Pathfinder Church, 8740 S. Westnedge Ave., with Brother Donald Wolfgang officiating. Visitation will begin at 10AM in the church and Lena's family will receive guests again following the service. Private interment will take place in Portage South Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Henderson Settlement or to the Building Fund of Pathfinder Church.
