Myers , Lela Mae (Wilcox) Climax, MI Lela Mae (Wilcox) Myers, age 90 of Scotts Michigan passed away at home, by her farm surrounded by family on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Lela was born in Leonidas on September 1, 1932 to Carleton and Florence (Farr) Wilcox. She graduated from Mendon High School and went to work at Haas Corporation. Lela was united in marriage to Walter Raymond Myers on January 8, 1954 in Mendon. Lela and Ray were life-long residents and dairy farmers of Climax-Scotts. Ray preceded her in death in 2010. Lela is survived by her children, Laura (Larry) Needham of Portage, Lynn (Paul) Steele of Oregon, Louise (Mike) Robyn of Vicksburg, Laraine (Dave) Van Lopik of Schoolcraft, Richard (Dawn) Myers of Scotts and Robert (Stacey) Myers of Climax; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter Jena Aeed; sister Letah Boyce, brother Duane Wilcox; her parents Carleton and Florence Wilcox. Lela had an open-door policy on Sunday meals, and everyone was invited; family, hired help, neighbors, etc. She worked hard on the farm milking cows and, in the home, but also played hard. Lela was famous for her love of dancing and music. Known as the "dancing queen" she was a regular at the Scotts Jammin dances, Fredonia Grange and Maple Leaf Grange. Her mantra was "never miss a chance to dance". As her health declined, Lela enjoyed playing rambunctious games of Rummy and Aggravation with family and caregivers. She would win 9 out of 10 games. Funeral services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 205 East Maple St, Climax, MI 49034, on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Gilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 17 from 4 -8 p.m. and Friday November 18 from 10-11 a.m. Following the interment, the family invites everyone to a luncheon at the Scotts Community Center, 8450 S. 36th St., Scotts, MI. Given Lela's love for the color red, family and friends are encouraged to wear red in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting memorial contributions may be made to the Pride of Scotts Community Center or the Fredonia Grange.
