Lawrence Vanderberg

Passed away on May 19, 2010. Born and raised in Kalamazoo on March 18, 1920, Lawrence (Pete) is predeceased by his beloved wife, Virginia, also from Kalamazoo, and his brothers John and William. He is survived by his brother, Harold (Bud) Vanderberg; his daughter, Diane Arnold and his son-in-law, John; his daughter, Janice Cappiello and his son-in-law, Bob; and his son, Thomas Vanderberg and daughter-in-law, Christine. He is the beloved 'Grandpa Pete' to Matthew, Katie, Jill, Stephanie (Christopher), Michelle (Vincent), Peter (Elizabeth), James (Jessica) and Paul; and "Great Grandpa Pete" to Owen, Mckayla, Sam, Kyle, Jack, Chloe, Grace, Emily, Ava, Sara, Thomas, Lucas, Dylan, Julian and Alice. He moved to Miami, FL to join Pan American Airways as a pilot in 1942 (retired 1980 after 35 years as captain), and moved to Massapequa, NY, in 1951. He often reminisced with great fondness on his early years in Michigan, was devoted to his family, and loved lake fishing and baseball.
