Lawrence Cook

Larry passed away on August 5, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on June 30, 1953 in Detroit to Dick Cook, Jr. and Wilma Cook (Kaye). He is survived by his wife of 21 years Colleen Cook, daughter Bonnie Partridge (Chad), son Paul Cook (Erin), step-daughter Myra Murray (Taylor), and step-son Devon Jones. Also surviving are sisters Sharon Saarinen (John) and Shelly Skladzien (Gary), grandchildren Grant and Vaughn Partridge, Caleb, Kait, Anna, and Sam Cook, Brooklyn Sweat, Colt, Delta, and Eleanor Murray. Nieces Danielle Skladzien, Michele Nippes (Darryl), great niece and nephew Hailey and Nolan Nippes, Nephew Steve Skladzien. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lori Cook-Caeti. Larry graduated from Thurston High School in 1971 and came to Kalamazoo to attend Western Michigan University. Larry was active in scouting for many years and was the #1 fan of his children and grandchildren's activities. Larry was also an avid car enthusiast and a life-time member of the Gilmore Car Museum. Larry retired from Eaton Corporation after over 25 years of service. In remembrance of Larry and in lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to the Gilmore Car Museum. According to Larry's wishes a private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
