Laurel Sunnock

Died Saturday evening July 20, 2019 at her residence. Laurel was born November 22, 1935 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of Boyd and Evelyn (Hughes) Wellington. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the United Auto Workers Union for 21 years, retiring in 1994. In her retirement, she became a licensed Master Gardener. Laurel was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Bruce Wellington in 2009. On July 10, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald F. Sunnock who survives. Also surviving, 5 children, Michal (Barbara) Sunnock of Portage, Pamela (David) Hoepker of Corpus Christi, TX, Patricia (Melvin) Campbell of Comstock, Carol (Jim) Stoops of Kalamazoo, and Pastor James (Aileen) Sunnock of Battle Creek, MI; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Joan Wellington of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Thursday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Friends may meet the family 5-7pm Wednesday at the chapel. Private burial will take place in Maple Grove Comstock Cemetery at a later date.
