Laurel "Kay" Pryor, age 81, died Friday, November 3, 2017, of complications from Alzheimer's Disease at Hilltop on Pepper, a loving and caring community in Wis. Rapids. She was born on June 2, 1936, in Parchment, Michigan to Ernest and Beatrice Gorham. She was the third of four children, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Loretta, a brother, Richard, and her parents. She is survived by her sister, Linda Bogard, Kalamazoo, Michigan and sister-in-law Sandra Drucker, Portage, Michigan. Kay was married to Don Pryor for sixty-two years. Kay was the loving mother of three children; Diane (Dick Jonas) Blackmon - Racine, Wisconsin, Dave (Marilyn) Pryor - Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and Susan (Pat) Wurzer - Wausau Wisconsin. She was a wonderful grandmother to Laura (Dave) Olson, DaMara Pryor, Adam Pryor, Kelly Wurzer, and Emily Wurzer. Kay also has two great-grandchildren: Evan and Eleanor Olson that brightened her day. Kay has many nieces and nephews throughout the Midwest. Kay and Don began their life in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 1959 they moved to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Kay was a stay at home mom for many years, but once her children were older she wanted a new adventure. She then worked for Moodie Trucking in Plover, Wisconsin for 16 years. Kay liked to be on the move. She was involved in many different organizations throughout the years. Her more recent groups consisted of bridge clubs, bible study groups, Red Hats in Wisconsin Rapids and Naples, Florida. She was a member and co-owner of a camp ground group, Roche-A-Bye Acres. Kay was always doing something with her hands; sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, crafting, cooking, or baking. Kay loved to plan and host parties at home, church, and in Florida. Kay and Don were snow birds for many years down in Naples, Florida. Kay loved to travel around the world. While traveling, Kay made it to 6 of the 7 continents. Her favorite trips were to Kenya, South Africa and Bulgaria. Visitation will be on Saturday November 11, 2017, 9:00 until the start of the service at 11:00 at First English Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. In 2014, Kay was moved to Hilltop Memory Care Center. Kay's family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the staff at Hilltop on Pepper.
