Larry Victor Perry, age 85, of Kalamazoo, MI passed Sunday from multiple strokes at Rose Arbor Hospice. Larry was born in Jackson, Tennessee and at a young age ventured to St. Louis, Missouri for work. He later moved to Kalamazoo to help an aunt. Larry served in the U.S. army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a hard worker from an early age, often working two jobs and driving trucks on the weekend. He still even found time to build his own house. He was an excellent cook and people loved his sweet potato pie and smothered potatoes. If you put a tool in his hand he could fix or build anything. On a sunny day you could be sure to find him on his boat fishing for bass. Larry was a minister of Jehovah and faithfully shared his beliefs with others rain or shine. Larry was preceded in death by his sister Mary Perry and his daughter Dianna Jo Perry. He is survived by his wife Karen Perry and his children Rose Mary Charlene Howell, Debra Lynn Perry, Larry Dewayne Blackamore, Eddie James Blackamore, Bobby Eugene Palore, Christopher Todd Perry, Corey Ivory Perry, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7415 Oakland Drive, Portage, MI, Sunday, May 7th at 4pm. Larry was a generous, loving father, husband, grandfather and friend. He had a contagious laugh that will always be remembered. Larry looked forward to answering Jesus' call and being resurrected to a paradise earth and seeing his loved ones again.
