Kimberly Robin Burleigh, 59, passed away in Traverse City on Monday, March 27, 2017 with her sister by her side. Kim was born in Frankfort, Michigan on January 4, 1958 to Eugene Carlson and Carol Lee (Foote) Burleigh.

Kimba, as everyone knew her, was a creative and gifted artist who found beauty and happiness everywhere. Her exhibits at many art fairs showcased a unique and varied collection of her creations, from paintings and fabric art to a mix of unusual and beautiful pieces. In addition to her art, Kim loved to garden and cook, and was an avid reader, but most of all, she loved to give to others. Everyone who knew her will remember something thoughtful that she did for them.

Kim was passionate about many things, but her love and devotion to all living beings is what defined her. She volunteered hundreds of hours to charitable causes and was especially concerned about animal welfare, remaining active with ASPCA, The Humane Society and PETA, throughout her life.

In Kim's own words, this is what she hoped people would remember and say about her:

"That I carried a deep love for my family and that I tried to be a good friend. That I did my best to advocate the rights of animals, to volunteer and give what I could to those less fortunate, and as much as possible, to reduce my carbon footprint on earth."

Kim is survived by her sister, Cheryl D. (Michael J.) Frawley; niece, Melissa J. Wagener, nephews, Creighton A Wagener, Brent Burleigh; son; Jeffery Lentz, great niece, Nevaeh Wagener; great nephew, Mason Hall and Uncle, Curtis Foote.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene C. Burleigh and Carol L. Burleigh and brother, Curtis N. Burleigh.

Per Kim's wishes, an anatomical donation has been made to the University of Michigan, and a cremation with a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Gifts in memory of Kim, if desired, may be made to the ASPCA, Cherryland Humane Society or ACPAWS.
