Witte, Mr. Kevin Dean Age 37 years of Holland and formerly of Kalamazoo, died on September 27, 2016 from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born on September 20, 1979 in Fremont, MI to Philip Dean and Lorene (Blamer) Witte. Kevin was a member of Holland Heights Christian Reformed Church, and was formerly a member of Third Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. He had also previously been a teacher and coach at Kalamazoo Christian Middle School. Kevin was currently a Bible and Social Studies teacher at Holland Christian High School, where he was also the Winterim Director and Freshman boys' soccer coach. Kevin possessed a contagious curiosity, modeling for his students not just what to think but how to think well about the world. On August 14, 2004 he married Shari LaRae Wubben and she survives him along with three children: Katelyn Ruth, Jared Michael, and Lucas Dean Witte. Kevin is also survived by his parents, Philip and Lorene Witte of Fremont; two brothers and their children: Kyle (Kristin) Witte and their son, Maxton of Byron Center, Kraig (Jessica) Witte and their children, Jackson and Alexa of Grand Rapids; one sister, Kari Witte of Byron Center; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stan and Sandy Wubben of Willmar, MN; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Lenae (Michael) Bulthuis of Renville, MN, Scott (Lexi) Wubben of Prinsburg, MN, Lori (Lanne) Roelofs of Renville, MN, Stacey (Chris) Freeman of Ontario, CA, along with all of their children and their families. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents: Henry and Marjorie Witte, and Kenneth and Ruth Blamer. Kevin listened to people's lives. He did the hard work of reconciliation in his relationships. He committed deeply, holding on to friendship with fierce loyalty and generous commitments of time. Kevin was steady, a rock to many because he clung to a Rock that was steadier still. You are invited to join the family in a service of grief, remembrance and hope at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Central Wesleyan Church in Holland (446 W. 40th St) with Rev. Mark Kamper, Rev. Ken Baker & Rev. Meg Jenista Kuykendall, and Mr. Dave Mosterd officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 3-7 PM on Sunday. In recognition of Kevin's generous investment in the communities he loved, suggested memorials are Holland Christian High School, Kalamazoo Christian Schools, Tree of Life School in Kalamazoo, or Grace Community Christian High School in the Philippines (a ministry of Zeeland Christian Schools).
