Stratton, Kenneth Lewis 4/3/1929 - 10/19/2016 Kenneth (Kenny) Stratton peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at his beloved home on the lake on October 19, 2016. He was born April 3, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Lewis and Gladys (Altenburg) Stratton. Kenny made his living as a salesman in the Kalamazoo area. He also owned several businesses. Some of his passions were morel mushroom hunting in his dune buggy, fishing, and all kinds of hunting. He was well known for his love and ability to drive stock cars in the 50's and 60's at Galesburg and Kalamazoo Speedway. He is survivied by his daughters; Sue Grooten Shafer (Michael Squires), Peggy (Mike) Wiersma, Kathie (Doug) Brown, Diane (John) Smith, Cindy Whitney Anderson; 10 grandchildren; Jerry Rife, Kim (Craig) Marsh, Krista (Mark) Brazee, Kerri (Shawn) Baker, Kelli (Cindy) Rumery, Jennifer (Joe) DeYoung, Jerome (Sarah) Smith, Garrett (Julie) Smith, Wesley (Becka) Whitney, Wendy (Mike) Van Dam; and 23 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is the mother of his five daughters, Pattie Stender. Preceeding him in death were his parents, his wife Linda, two son-in-laws; Ron Grooten and Ron Shafer, two brothers and a sister. Creamation has taken place in accordance with Ken's wishes. To celebrate Ken's life we are having an open house luncheon at Portage-Schoolcraft Eagles Aerie 3531, 11611 Shaver Rd. Schoolcraft on Saturday, October 29 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM. The family would like to sincerely thank the Reverance Hospice Group for all their special care of our Dad. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest that donations be made in Dad's name to Reverance Hospice.
