Kathryn "Kay" Mezo

Kathryn L. (Kay) Mezo, age 88, of Comstock Twp., MI passed away peacefully Tuesday August 16, 2016 at Upjohn Care Center. Kathryn was born August 21, 1927 in Joliet, IL the daughter of Arthur and Lucy (Galli) DeMaso. Kay was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she volunteered for Lenten fish fry's and chaired the Bazaar Bake Sale for many years. Kay was also a 4-H leader, and she enjoyed sewing, flower and vegetable gardening, canning, knitting, cooking and baking especially for her grandchildren. On October 4, 1952 in Battle Creek Kathryn was united in marriage to Alex J. Mezo, Jr. who preceded her in death on December 2, 2014. Surviving are two sons, Arthur (Diane) Mezo of Galesburg, James (Kelly) Mezo of Galesburg; daughter, Kathryn (John) Brown of Portage; six grandchildren, Kristen (Brian) Brueck Lauren Mezo, Justin Mezo, Brandon Mezo, Jennifer Brown, Jason Brown; brother, Alfred (Carlene) DeMaso of Battle Creek; several nieces and nephews. Friends are being received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday August 21, 2016 at Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Msgr. Mike Hazard, Celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Parkinson's Foundation.
