Kathleen Anne (Mary) Sullivan, 74, of Traverse City, MI, passed away at home on May 12, 2018, with her husband at her side. Born in Hibbing, MN, in 1943, she attended Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids, MI. She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in social work and later studied and worked as an accountant. Her family and work took her across the world to Japan, Bahrain, Cyprus, and France. She returned to the US in 1997, moving to Aurora, CO, where she lived and worked for almost 15 years before going back to Michigan. She loved animals, NPR, and good books. She had an admirable sense of humor and a quick wit. She lived on her terms, according to her lights, and had strong opinions that she was happy to share. She excelled at moving on. In her later years, she liked nothing better than being at home with Bob, her husband of 30 years and friend of 56 years, and their two highly untrained dogs and four snarky cats. In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her son, Allen Sullivan, of Covington, KY, and daughters, Sarah Fisher (Michael), of Traverse City, MI, and Helen Sullivan-Looney (Sean), of St. Paul, MN; sister, Susan Dionne (Thomas), of Elk Rapids, MI; step-mother, Rosemary Tellor, of Adrian, MI; step-sister, Jeanette Funke (Kevin), of Grand Rapids, MI; grand-children, Zachary, Maisie, Asha, Jasmine, Hannah, Joshua, and Kiera; sisters-in-law, Patricia Yates and Ann Sullivan-Soet (David); and nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, Patricia Tellor, of Elk Rapids, MI, and William Tellor, of Adrian, MI. In her memory, please consider donating to her favorite organizations, AC PAW (www.acpaw.org) in Traverse City, MI, or the Denver Dumb Friends League (www.ddfl.org) in Denver, CO, which provide shelter and adoption services for abandoned animals.
