Karl Young

Karl Duane Young, 76 of Traverse City died, Tuesday, July 29th, 2014.

He was born in Jackson, Michigan on December 11, 1937 to Buck Eldon and Helen Mary (French) Young.

Karl worked for Consumers Energy for 25 years and was involved with the Peninsula Fire Department for 40 Years. He spent his time enjoying music with the Happy Time Band, Community Band and the Second Time Arounder's Band

He is survived by his, Wife, Doris; they were married on March 28, 1959 in Jackson; daughters Debbie (Don) Anderegg and Dianna Lehn; son, Dennis (Rebecca) Young; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; mother, Helen Baker; step-mother, Thelma Young; sisters, Jackie Fullerton and Karyl Baker; step-sister, Donna Lashley; cousins; nieces and nephews.

Karl is preceded in death by his, father, Buck Young; granddaughter, Kandace; father and mother-in-law, Pete and Helen Westergard; step-father, Ed Baker; grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Traverse City services will be held 11am, Friday, August, 1, 2014 at the Peninsula Bible Church; where the family will greet friends one hour prior. A graveside service will be held 1:30pm, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Pherdon Cemetery, Sandstone Twp, Jackson. A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Christ Episcopal Church, Pleasant Lake, Michigan.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, Peninsula Bible Church and Peninsula Fire Department.
