June L. Morley, age 94 of Vicksburg, MI died Friday Oct. 28, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born in Mendon on July 4, 1922 the daughter of the late Clarence and Flossie May (Riddle) Miller. June was married to Cap't. Erving H. Morley on March 9, 1945. After two years in Alaska they settled in Vicksburg where she began teaching music in Vicksburg and Mendon Schools. When Erving died at the age of 50 she battled alone to raise her children and maintain her household. She later started a gift store known as Pieces of Dreams, and later Lumberyard Antiques in Vicksburg. She continued to deal in antiques and play music until her untimely death. Her musical talent was shared with many. She was the church pianist, and played for the Vicksburg Rotary Showboat for thirty years. She also played for the Mendon Kiwanis Showboat for many years and was scheduled to play in this year's show. She was the accompanist for numerous students, youth bands, choirs, and orchestras. She received world-wide notice for giving birth to the largest fraternal twins on record in May of 1955, appearing in a national magazine. June is survived by four children, Kathy Slater, Sharon Morley, Karon Morley, and Kevin Morley; 13 grandchildren; Tim, Kevin and Shawn Slater, Erika and Ryan Johnson, Lucas, Travis and Elijah Morley, Ross, Sky, and Walker Truckey, Patrick Truckey, and Bobbie Jo Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and her special friend and companion, Vernon Warren. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the West Mendon United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday Nov. 3, 2016 at the church with Pastor Thoreau May officiating. Following a luncheon at the church interment will be in Vicksburg Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to either the West Mendon United Methodist Church,22994 Portage Lake Road, Mendon, MI 49072, The Vicksburg Schools Music Department, 501 E. Highway, Vicksburg, MI 49097, or to Mendon Schools Music Department, 26393 Kirby Road, Mendon, MI 49072. Arrangements were by the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon.
