June Anna Hill, of Vicksburg, MI, passed peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice at the age of 95 on April 30, 2016. Born June 12, 1920 in Stambaugh, Michigan, June was the newest addition to a long line of hard-working Swedes. She spent her childhood in Crystal Falls, in Michigan's "U.P.", then moved with her family to Chicago. She later returned to the U.P. to work and support her family, taking care of her brothers (Pete and Tussy). At age 20, she met her future husband, John Everett Hill. They married in 1940 and moved to Chicago, where she worked as a bank teller. Once "Jack" returned from his stint in the Navy, they began a family. June, John, and the family moved to Vicksburg in 1959, where they bought Hill's Drug Store. It was good that John married June, as her math skills, business acumen and personability were vital in making the drugstore a successful enterprise. June found Vicksburg to be a great fit for thefamily, and made life-long friends through being active in Mother's Club, Ladies Library, Girl Scouts, Bridge Club and their church. By 1980, with the children out of the house and the pharmacy sold, June and John sought their next adventure. They visited the summer community of Bay View in northern Michigan, and were charmed. After co-owning a bed and breakfast for several years, they purchased a quaint little cottage for their family to enjoy. For the next twenty years, June enjoyed spending many blissful summers there with her family. It's difficult to capture all of the passions one's life can bring, but June will be remembered by her well-known sweet tooth and all of her baked treats. June was whip-smart and made sure it stayed that way later in life by actively playing bridge and cribbage, devouring crosswords and playing scrabble, while visiting with many friends. She made sure to tell her family how special they were and that she loved them "bunches and bunches." June was a classy woman and will be sorely missed. She is survived by: her brother, Richard (Tussy) Peterson; children, John Hill Jr. (Carolyn), Susan Berry (David), and Betsy Hill-Craig (Mark); grandchildren, Allan and Bryan Berry, Hattie and Andrew Hill, Emily Fink-Craig, Kyle and Brian Craig; great-grandchild, Griffin Funk-Berry. Family and friends will gather at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 7147 W. Milham Avenue, on Saturday, May 21. Family greeting will occur at 10am, service at 11am, and a light lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Bay View Association Music Festival. Donations can be sent to Bay View Association, P.O. Box 583, Petoskey, MI 49770.

The family was assisted by the Life Story Funeral Home, 409 S. Main Vicksburg, MI (269-649-1697).
