A beloved mother, Julina Gail Gibson, and loving son, Nicholas Jeffery Mitchell, passed away November 9, 2017. Julina was born July 4, 1987 to Linda Newkirk and Jeffery Gibson. Julina came into this word with fireworks, with a bang, which was her personality the show, life of the party. She was a family and friend orientated person. She worked as a home healthcare provider which she loved to take care of people with disabilities. That's how big her heart was. But, to her the best job ever was being a mother. On July 23, 2013, Julina gave birth to an amazing, rambunctious, energetic, beautiful baby boy, Nicholas. He was the true definition of a momma's boy. Julina and Nicholas were preceded in death by father/grandfather: Jeffrey Gibson, brother/uncle: Duane Underwood Sr; grandfathers/great-grandfathers: Wilfred Newkirk Jr and Wesley Gibson; uncle: McKinley Underwood Sr; brother/cousin: McKinley Underwood Jr, grandmother/great-grandmother: Madear and Gram; and a host of family and friends. Julina and Baby Nick leave to cherish their memory a daughter/sister: Zariah Cole; mother/grandmother: Linda Newkirk; #2 Dad/Pa: Robert Simpson Jr; 7 sisters/aunts: Marie (Ronald) Cole, Ebony Foltz-Gibson, Nadia James, Ida Bryant, Tecia Simpson, Melissa (Thomas) Hawkins and Kristi Terpstra all of Kalamazoo; 10 brother/uncles: Sean (Mona) Gibson, Sonny (Abey) Gibson, Clayton Gibson, Clinton Gibson, Jamar Tabor, Arius Chapa, Matthew (Rasheeda) Underwood all of Kalamazoo, Jeffery Fry and Robert Simpson III of Chicago, IL and Christopher Mobley; a maternal grandmother/great-grandmother: Evelyn Barrett of Kalamazoo; special friend/fianc: James Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles friends and extended family. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Friday, Nov. 17, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. A funeral service to celebrate the lives of Julina and Nicholas will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Bethany Reformed Church, 1833 S. Burdick Street. Pastor David Barringer will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to an education fund for Zariah Cole.
