Life Story / Obituary

Julien Grant Wilson was born on June 6, 1945 to the union of Reverend Moreal Andrew and Deloris Lucy Wilson in New Orleans, LA. He was the fourth of thirteen children.

Julien accepted Christ at a young age and was first baptized by his grandfather Reverend Charles I. Wilson in Mississippi. The family later moved to Chicago, Illinois where he graduated from Englewood High School. He was a humble, funny, smart, strong willed, and talented man with a love of song and poetry. Julien always worked hard for a living, employed by the railroad, delivering Ebony & Jet magazines and family owned grocery stores. He often joked with family and friends asking “Do you have my million dollars?”

On June 16, 1967 Julien married the love of his life, Daisy Rena Rollins-Wilson. To this union were born 10 children. Julien, affectionately called “Big Junior”, was known for being very attentive to his children, so much so that he was honored as the Father of the Year in the 1980s in Chicago, Illinois.

Julien Grant Wilson departed this life on Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Moreal A. Wilson, his mother Deloris L. Wilson, his brothers Donald S. Wilson, Moreal A. Wilson Jr. and Darrell I. Wilson Sr., his son in-law Dion Smith and two grandchildren Dasia Renee Wilson and Malik Isaiah Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Daisy Rena Rollins-Wilson, his eleven children Julien G. Wilson Jr, Darell Wilson, Bernice Wilson, Debra Wilson, Denise Smith, Thelya R. Wilson, Raymond Wilson, Laquisha Wilson, Nord Wilson (Veronica), Donald Wilson and Janice L. Wilson, six sisters Zerita B. Day, Deloris B. Kennard (Jessie), Maudesta Riggs, Sandra J. Scardina (Phil), Vanessa D. Lewis (James), Stephanie M. Wilson and three brothers Antoine S. Wilson (Karen), Dwight A. Wilson, Don K. Wilson.

He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and many other family and friends.

Relatives and friends may meet at the funeral home Saturday, May 6, 2017 3-4 P.M. At 4:00 P.M. a Prayer Service will be held with Reverend Sheila Nienhaus officiating. Funeral Services and burial will be held in Waveland, MS.
